While I have been here, I have played lots of games on the beach with Noah and Ellie.
Here are two of my favourites:
1. The real pirates of the Caribbean
Belize is in Central America and is on the Caribbean Sea. Lots of pirates visited here including Captain Henry Morgan , the Welsh pirate. The most famous pirate in Belize was Bartholomew Sharpe who retired and then sold logwood to the U.K.
Ambergris Caye , where my cousin Noah lives is just inside the barrier reef. The pirates were whalers as well as loggers and used to hide from the stormy water inside the shallow reef, where they couldn’t be followed by bigger boats. Ambergris Caye got it’s name from the whale excrement (poo) that got washed up on it’s shore.
The ship the pirates sailed was called a sloop. It had four sails and a boom and was made out of wood.
We have two pirate ships on the beach. One has a rope so you can swing on to other boats and capture them. We have a plank to make captives walk off into shark infested water. There are two bamboo cannons and a hold that we throw prisoners into or shelter in. There is a crows nest to look out for other ships.
We have collected lots of treasure such as emeralds, gold, coins and silver. We keep our hoard of treasure hidden, I shan’t tell you where.
I have a stick that is shaped like a soldiers gun and Noah uses a snorkel as a pistol. We also have a sword and are very very fearsome. Grrr!
2. Angry cocobirdnuts.
This is a special game we made for Noah’s birthday. We had 3 levels with 5 bad piggy coconuts on each.
On level one, we had small coconuts that we had painted red and put yellow beaks on. We had to throw the angry cocobirdnuts and knock the bad pigs off their stands. I found it hard but managed to get one.
Dad got all 5 and won the level. He must have cheated somehow.
I think that playing angry cocobirdnuts on the beach is much better than playing on the computer but it will be a little hard to take with us when we leave.
