We have been on a two day trek to Tiger Leaping Gorge. We walked along a mountain path that wound up the hillside with 28 bends. You could go up on a horse but we walked up. Down in the bottom of the valley below us was one of the deepest gorges in the world. It is 16kms long and 3900m from the Jinsha river to the snow capped Haba mountain.
The path was really wiggling in places and we could see the snowy mountains above us. We walked through some small villages (mum and Dad said it was really like trekking in Nepal) and stayed at Tea Horse Guesthouse overnight.
The next day we walked to another village, we saw a lady walking her goats, there were horses carrying hay and wood and we saw people working in the fields, drying sweet corn and chillies.
We climbed down to Tiger Leaping Rock, it was very steep and you had to climb down ladders and hold onto a wire. We scrambled over some big rocks next to the river. It was so noisy, the water was crashing against the rocks.
The story is about loads of hunters chasing a tiger, and to escape, the tiger had to jump all the way across the gorge. It was such a big jump, but I do think that the story happened And that it was an amazing jump!
