‘How much (money)?’  is ‘Duōshǎo qián’   or  多少錢 We’ve yet to learn the correct way of saying ‘please say that again more slowly’ and so far usually resort to fingers to get to the correct answer.

Please and thank you

‘Please’ is said ‘ching’ and written as  請 or qing ‘Thank you’  is said ‘sh-eh sh-eh’ unless you’re dad who can’t get it right and keeps saying ‘she she’. It is written as 謝謝 or Xie xie.

Ni Hao

“Hello” (although for Ellie and Will, often means “can I have my photo taken with you?”) 你 = ni, means you 好 = hao, means good
